What is UC Santa Barbara?

UC Santa Barbara ( UCSB) is a top-ranked public research university in California. It offers a range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees in a wide variety of disciplines. The university has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges since 1929. UCSB's top programs in engineering include civil, environmental, computer, electrical, mechanical and aerospace engineering. The university also has strong programs in the sciences including anthropology, biology, chemistry, Earth and planetary sciences, forestry, health sciences and mathematics.

UC Santa Barbara's Engineering Department

The University of California, Santa Barbara's (UC Santa Barbara) Engineering Department offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in diverse disciplines. The department is home to eleven endowed professorships and two endowed research chairs, and its faculty have published over 1,700 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

The department offers a Master of Science (M.S.) degree program in engineering with concentrations in biomedical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering. Graduate students can also pursue a Ph.D. program in any of the five departments: agricultural and resource economics; architectural science; chemical engineering; civil and environmental Engineering; or computer science and engineering.

The M.S. degree program in biomedicalengineering is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The program offers a four-year curriculum that includes fundamentals of biomedicalengineering, hands-on training in medical devices manufacturing labs, project work experience at local hospitals affiliated with UCSB Health System, an internship at a biotech company or nonprofit research institution, and capstone coursework involving leadership development or research design in biomedicalengineering.

The Ph.D. program in electrical Engineering is accredited by ABET as well as the National Research Council (NRC). The program offers a five-year curriculum that includes fundamental principles of electrical circuitry and systems theory alongside hands-on laboratory experience with COMSOL Multiphysics software for electronic design engineers studying power electronics systems including energy
